AI Sous Chef

Ask for help. Keep control of dinner.

An AI meal planner can suggest from the recipes and standing menu you already keep.

Meal planning that works like a menu, not a calendar. You can still plan, shop and cook if you never ask. When you want a hand, Carte can suggest from the dishes you already keep, add portions to an order, or help turn a recipe into something you can save. The help is optional. The kitchen stays yours.

The waiter

Ask Carte in plain language

What is an AI meal planner? It is a quiet way to ask for help with dinner from food you already have. In Carte that food lives on a standing menu: the dishes you cook, the portions you intend to shop, and the list those portions create.

You can type or speak the way you would ask someone in the kitchen, instead of tapping through every task by hand. Carte can suggest from that menu, or help with the same menu, order, shop and cook work you can already do yourself.

The ask is optional. Dinner does not wait on a suggestion. If you never use it, the meal planning app is still a menu, an order, and a shop. The guided examples on this page use a sample menu. Nothing here is sent to a model.

What is an AI meal planner?

An AI meal planner can help suggest or organize meals from food you already have. In Carte, that food is the recipes and standing menu the kitchen already keeps — not a blank diet questionnaire. The help is optional.

Your kitchen, not a quiz

Work with recipes you already saved

Can AI plan meals from your own recipes? In Carte, help starts with dishes you already cook — lasagne you make, not a cuisine profile you filled in once. Because saved recipes can become part of the standing menu, they remain useful when it is time to choose dinner. A recipe organizer is how those recipes get there.

Ask for something like light lunches, and Carte can look through those dishes and bring back the ones that fit what you asked for. It does not invent a week of new recipes and save them for you. You keep the food. Help works over it.

Can AI plan meals from my own recipes?

Yes. Carte can suggest and find dishes from the recipes already on your standing menu. It is not a generator of a seven-day diet from a cuisine quiz. You keep your own recipes.

From the carte, not a void

Find something that fits tonight

When tonight is the question, Carte can suggest from dishes already on your standing menu. A suggestion does not automatically change the order. You still choose.

The guided example on this page uses a sample menu so you can see that shape without signing in. It is not connected to the live waiter. Suggestions come from the menu — not from a scan of every ingredient in the kitchen.

What can Carte’s AI Sous Chef do?

Ask what to cook from your menu, add portions of a dish to your order, or get help drafting a recipe. Carte can also take you to the menu, shopping and cooking screens you would open yourself.

Add, don’t rebuild

Change an order without rebuilding the plan

The standing menu stays put. The order is what you actually intend to cook and shop. If four portions of lasagne are already planned, asking for two more makes six. Herb salad can stay at two. The rest of the plan remains intact.

The grocery list then follows those dishes and portions: matching ingredients combine, and staples you have marked can stay off. Carte does not edit grocery lines one by one. People who have joined a shared kitchen work from the same order; crossing items off while shopping still stays on the device in use.

What happens before an AI suggestion changes the plan?

A suggestion does not change your order on its own. Adding portions or saving a dish uses the same kitchen actions you can already tap. There is no extra approval screen promised on top of that.

From words to a dish

Capture or refine a recipe with help

Paste a recipe or add a clear photo, and Carte can help turn it into ingredients and steps. Check the result, especially amounts and cooking instructions, and correct anything that needs attention. You can enter the recipe yourself too. Read about Recipe capture.

That saved dish can take portions and feed the list, like any other recipe on the menu. Carte does not import recipes from a website URL, and it is not a promise of perfect handwriting. Typing the recipe yourself remains a first-class path.

The guided example shows a labelled draft beside an order that does not change. This site does not collect recipe text.

Optional on purpose

Recommendations without handing over the whole system

Help is there when you want it. The standing menu remains yours. The order stays visible. Planning, shopping and cooking still work if you never ask — AI stays optional.

The helpful part is not a chat box by itself. It is seeing a suggestion beside the menu and order it relates to — so you can tell what changed, and what did not. AI supports the kitchen. It does not become the kitchen.

Does Carte require AI?

No. The standing menu, portions, shopping list, pantry, cooking and larder work if you never ask. AI is optional.

What still works without AI?

You can still keep a standing menu, set portions, shop from that order, stock the pantry, cook from a saved recipe, and hold leftovers in the larder — all without asking for help.
